We did something really good!

It’s hard to believe the whole summer has already gone by since the June 9 Giving Circle!  We recently attended The Compass Foodbank for the Big Cheque Presentation, after raising $8500 to help feed kids from food-insecure homes both breakfast and lunch during the summer months.  Because of our collective effort, 324 kids were helped weekly!

According to Melinda Prain, Communications and Fundraising Manager for The Compass: “Thanks to the generosity of 100 Women Who Care Mississauga, The Compass Food Bank & Outreach Centre was able to provide kids summer snack kits to an average of 324 school-age children per week. Each kids pack included healthy snacks such as cheese strings, yogurt, fresh fruit and vegetables, healthy granola bars and more. The donation also enabled us to provide families whose kids are usually part of a school meal program with nutritious food for breakfasts and lunches. 100 Women—you made a big difference in a lot of families’ lives over the summer.”

(Please note, there will be an online accommodation for the Giving Circle Meeting for those who are unable to attend in person.)

Member Spotlight

You may have seen some of our members featured in our social media over the weeks.  This is our Member Spotlight and it allows our membership to highlight why they joined 100 Women Who Care Mississauga and what they love about it.  Many of our members are businesswomen, and it also provides them with the opportunity to put a spotlight on their business and the philanthropic role they play in our community.  If you would like to be featured in the Member Spotlight to share with your friends, family, and business network all the good you are helping to achieve in the Mississauga community, please complete the registration form.

Volunteers Needed!

We are looking to fill a few volunteer job opportunities on the Steering Team.  We have recently been taking a more formalized approach to the Steering Team structure and are looking to fill some skills gaps that exist within the Team.  Specifically, we are looking for:

  2.  A Writer/ PR person to help with Communications and PR
  3.  Help with Social Media engagement
  4.  An individual who can assist Charity (Nominations & Vetting) Management

We are looking for people with solid work experience in these fields, who are willing to volunteer from 3-5 hours per month, and who can attend all Giving Circle Meetings and monthly Steering Team meetings.

If you are looking to get involved on a deeper level, please email Christine Hull at info@100womenwhocaremississauga.com
