Honouring the Irish Club of Mississauga: A Pillar of Support for Our Giving Circles

At 100 Women Who Care Mississauga, our mission to support local charities is made possible through the generosity and collaboration of our community sponsors and partners. Today, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Irish Club of Mississauga for their invaluable support as a Donation-In-Kind Sponsor. Their commitment to providing a welcoming space for our Giving Circle meetings has been instrumental in our efforts to make a positive impact in Mississauga.

The Irish Club of Mississauga, originally established as The Ireland Supporters Club in 1993, is a non-profit cultural and social club operated entirely by dedicated volunteers. For over 30 years, the club has been a cornerstone of the community, offering social and recreational activities that promote Irish heritage and culture. Their mission is to provide a safe, inclusive, and friendly environment for members, supporters, and the broader community.

Located at 4120 Ridgeway Drive #39 in Mississauga, the club boasts a facility complete with a full bar, entertainment area, dance floor, and a fully functional kitchen. This versatile space is ideal for a variety of events, including family functions, fundraisers, celebrations, company parties, or meetings. The club can accommodate over 180 guests and offers ample parking, making it a convenient choice for many occasions. All volunteer staff are Smart Serve and food handler certified, ensuring a professional and safe environment for all events.

Membership is the foundation of the Irish Club of Mississauga. Built on a solid base of Irish culture and enriched by members from around the world, the club prides itself on offering a diverse and accepting community for everyone. As a completely non-profit and volunteer-operated organization, the club’s membership is the driving force behind its continued success. They offer annual memberships for families, singles, and students, and are always welcoming new members and guests.

“And no, you don’t have to be Irish to join the club!”

The club hosts a variety of events and activities that cater to a wide range of interests. Regular events include trivia nights, line dancing, darts, golf tournaments, and bowling. These activities not only provide entertainment but also foster a sense of community and camaraderie among members. The club’s commitment to promoting Irish culture is evident in its diverse programming and the enthusiastic participation of its members.

One of the club’s notable events is the annual Irish Open golf tournament. This event offers both members and the general public an opportunity to enjoy a day of golf while supporting the club’s initiatives. Participants can register individually or as part of a team, making it accessible to golfers of all levels.
For those interested in hosting an event, the Irish Club of Mississauga offers facility rentals to both members and outside guests, subject to availability. The club provides catering accessories for rent, including linens and chair covers, to help make any event special. For more information on facility rentals, interested parties can contact Willa Elliot, the Booking Director, at mississaugairishclub@gmail.com

Our partnership with the Irish Club of Mississauga began in June 2021, when we were seeking a venue for our first in-person Giving Circle. Referred by one of our members, Monika Vercerin (she is a member of the Irish Club, as well), we visited the venue and were warmly welcomed by then-President John Barry. His hospitality and willingness to accommodate our needs made the event a resounding success, both as a charitable giving occasion and a social gathering.

Since then, the Irish Club of Mississauga has continued to support our chapter by generously providing their space, at a heavily discounted price, for our Giving Circle meetings. A special shout-out goes to John Barry, who has always been ready to jump in and assist during our meetings, ensuring everything runs smoothly. His dedication and support have been invaluable to our organization.

As a token of our deepest appreciation, we’ve commissioned this custom wooden sign – handcrafted to celebrate their 30-year legacy of bringing people together. It reads “Céad míle fáilte” – a traditional Irish welcome meaning “A hundred thousand welcomes” – which perfectly captures how they’ve embraced our organization.

We encourage our members and the broader community to learn more about the Irish Club of Mississauga, participate in their events, and consider membership or facility rental opportunities. Their commitment to fostering community spirit and promoting cultural heritage aligns closely with our own mission, making them a cherished partner in our endeavors.
Once again, we extend our deepest gratitude to the Irish Club of Mississauga and John Barry for their unwavering support. Their generosity has played a significant role in our ability to bring together women in our community to make a collective impact.
