Luso Cheque Presentation - June 29, 2026
Today was an exciting day as several members of our Steering Team and sponsors came together to present our $16,669 cheque to Luso Canadian Charitable Society—our largest collective donation to date.
We also had the opportunity to meet some of the program participants and see firsthand the impact of Luso’s work. One of the most meaningful moments of the day was meeting the individual whose story touched so many of us during Luso’s presentation at our Giving Circle on June 10. It was incredibly special to meet the person behind the story and see the impact this organization has on the lives of the families it serves.
Following the cheque presentation, Marilene Santos, Associate Director of Resource Development & Projects, led us on a tour of Luso’s Mississauga facility, where their day programs take place. We visited the games room, library, kitchen, specialized quiet sensory room, and outdoor patio, where participants enjoy gardening and creating planters as part of their life skills programming.
The Mississauga location serves adults aged 21 through to their oldest and longest-attending participant, now in his mid-60s. Participants come here to develop life skills, build social connections, and take part in meaningful daily activities, all while being supported by dedicated social workers and specialized caregivers in a safe and welcoming environment.
While it was wonderful to tour the Mississauga day program facility, our donation is specifically supporting Peel Region families who access Luso’s respite program at their Toronto location. These funds will help make weekend overnight respite stays more affordable, giving caregivers a much-needed break while ensuring their loved ones receive exceptional care in a safe, supportive environment.
Another touching moment was receiving a beautiful hand-painted sign created by one of the participants. It was such a thoughtful gift and a reminder of the lives that are touched by Luso’s programs every day.
Today was a wonderful reminder that every donation truly makes a difference. Seeing the programs firsthand, meeting the participants, and learning more about the important work Luso does reinforced why our members come together—to help local families and create a lasting impact in our community. 💚

Random Selection of Charities - June 3, 2026
Melissa, Lorraine and Christine met today to do the random selection of the charities that will be presenting on June 10th. We had 46 nominations for 27 charities. 👏👏

Roots Community Services Inc.
Roots Community Services will be seeking support for its Fresh Start VAW Program, which helps women and children fleeing violence. A donation would provide emergency essentials such as food, clothing, hygiene products, and baby supplies, helping families regain stability and security as they rebuild their lives.
Luso Canadian Charitable Society
Luso Canadian Charitable Society will present its Overnight Respite Program, which provides weekend respite care for individuals with developmental disabilities while giving caregivers an opportunity to rest and recharge. Funding would help cover program and transportation costs.
Music for Every Child
Music for Every Child provides music therapy programs for children and youth with special needs, helping them build communication, emotional, and social skills. The organization currently serves eight Mississauga schools with the support of dedicated youth volunteers.

Wow — what an incredible turnout at our Spring Meet & Greet (on May 7th), as we celebrated 5 years of connection, collective giving, and community impact together! 🎂
We were especially excited to welcome 17 guests this evening. Thank you to our members for inviting friends, family, and colleagues to experience what 100 Women Who Care Mississauga is all about.
A heartfelt thank you to our gracious hosts, Amica Senior Lifestyles Erin Mills, who truly outdid themselves with an incredible spread of appetizers, pasta, and desserts. Thank you as well to Matt for the wonderful tour of the facility and for making everyone feel so welcome.
What a beautiful evening celebrating community, connection, and the impact we can make together. ❤️
ErinoakKids Cheque Presentation - Apr 1, 2026
On April 1st, we had the honour of presenting ErinoakKids a cheque for $15,658 — our largest collective donation to date as part of 100 Women Who Care Mississauga. 🎉
The morning began with a warm welcome, where Chris Hartley, President & CEO, shared a heartfelt thank you and spoke about how these funds will be used to support the iCan Bike Program 🚲
This incredible program helps children with disabilities learn how to ride a two-wheeled bike using adapted equipment and 1:1 support. With 75 minutes of daily specialized instruction, kids gain more than just a new skill — they build confidence, independence, and a sense of accomplishment that stays with them for life. 🚲
Following the presentation, we were given a tour of the facility, giving us a deeper look into the impact happening every day within these walls.

Random Selection of Charities - March 4, 2026
Melissa and Christine held the Random Selection Meeting via Zoom today and everything was going smoothly until the power went out — in the entire neighbourhood.
As you can imagine, without power Wi-Fi dropped immediately. They quickly switched to hotspotting from their phone so they could restart the call, but the connection was pretty choppy.
Unfortunately, the recording did not capture all of the spins, starts, and stops visually. The good news is the audio recorded fine, so we are sharing the recording as audio only — like a podcast version.

✅ 25 incredible charities have moved forward to the final stage and were added to the Wheel of Names for random selection.
✨ With some charities receiving multiple nominations, there were 37 slots on the wheel this time!

Huge gratitude to Amica Senior Lifestyles – Erin Mills for sponsoring our 100 Women Who Care Mississauga Fall Meet & Greet — you truly outdid yourselves, Sonia Ojha & team! Loved celebrating our new milestone of $160,000+ in collective donations to Mississauga charities. Options Cheque Presentation - June 26, 2025
Several of our Steering Team members, along with generous sponsors, had the honour of presenting the $15,150 collective donation to Options Mississauga yesterday! Funds will support the hiring of additional trainers and mentors for their Employment Training Programs—empowering adults with mild intellectual disabilities to build skills, confidence, and independence.
Options Mississauga Print and Office Services offers four key programs—Retail, Culinary, Visual Arts, and Horticulture—designed to help participants succeed in real-world settings. Thank you to Christine Barlow for giving us a tour of their space.

Meet & Greet - April 30, 2025
Thank you to everyone who joined us last night for our Spring Meet & Greet + 4th Anniversary Celebration! It was a beautiful evening filled with connection, community, and heart. Start2Finish Cheque Presentation - April 8, 2025
On April 8th, we had the honour of presenting a cheque for $15,325 to Start2Finish Canada in support of their incredible Running & Reading Club.
A true highlight of the visit was meeting the charismatic and passionate Brian Warren, founder of Start2Finish Canada and former defensive lineman with the Toronto Argonauts Football Club. His energy, heart, and vision for empowering children in underserved communities left a lasting impression on all of us.
